October Programs

Ready to "fall" in love with some good books?
October is right around the corner! Join us at the library for some fall-themed fun.
Click on a calendar for a close-up of all the free programs we offer families:

  • Our "Adopt a Reading Buddy" program is in full swing! Parents have told us how much fun kids are having filling on the "adoption booklet" of literacy activities. Click here to start the fun: Adopt a Reading Buddy @ RPL  

  • "Block Heads," our building program, has moved to Thursdays after school. October 6 and 20 at 4 pm. 

  • Million Youth Chess Club's Mr. Bud is back to teach you how to play chess. Already know how to play? Challenge Mr. Bud! He's a tough player! October 3 and 24 at 4 pm.  

  • "Mom 2 Mom" will have another session to discuss motherhood and parenting tips. It's hosted by everyone's favorite librarian, Miss Jeanette on October 22 at 12:30. 

  • Love the sounds of autumn? The Reading Philharmonic Orchestra will be hosting their annual Halloween Concert featuring spooky songs and catchy tunes, it's a great way to introduce the orchestra to your child. October 29 at Noon. 

  • On Halloween itself, you're invited to our costume storytime featuring activities and crafts for the holiday. October 31 at 4pm.

Mom 2 Mom

Calling all moms!

The children's library has a program just for you! Join us for an informal chat group to discuss motherhood, parenting tips, and much more. Hosted by everyone's favorite librarian, Miss Jeanette, who has a dozen years experience providing literacy outreach to BCIU Headstart classrooms, was the recipient of the Dr. Marcia Q. McCrae Service to Youth Award, a Dave. J Roberts EXCEL award for children's programming winner, and has won several Pennsylvania Library Association Best Practices awards and multiple Berks County Public Libraries Outstanding Program honors. She currently serves as the children's art programmer at the Reading Public Library.
