Drop-in Programs!

We know how busy the winter can get for families. That’s why we’re offering brand new drop-in programs! Stop in after school with your children for a variety of fun activities like puzzles, legos, and coloring. The activities start at 4pm, but you can drop in over the next hour to start when YOU are ready! This is a great way to keep kids active during the cold weather and a great chance for you to engage and bond with your child!

Librarian Book Club: How to Steal a Dog

Librarian Book Club is back in session! This time, we're reccomending a book from a program we conducted called Novel Club.

Novel Club wasn't your run of the mill book club. Instead, kids met weekly to read the book TOGETHER and discuss it as we read. This worked really well for reluctant readers and highlighted the children's library's commitment to "social reading." What's that? Well, just as you would gather your friends together to watch a movie, we encouraged kids to gather together to read a book. The vibe was super casual: kids ate snacks, asked questions, and chatted as they went. This helped kids see reading as a fun, everyday thing (like watching a movie), rather than a super studious school-related activity.

Long story short: one of our favorite books from Novel Club was this one...

Are you ready to have a "super" holiday? Your favorite superheroes are stopping in for a holiday hello! Meet Batman, Raven, Deadpool and MANY more of your favorite superheroes! These super friends were a big hit at last summer's Comic Con and now they're back to celebrate the season!

Librarian Book Club: The Princess in Black

Librarian Book Club is back! Today we're talking about a fun book that mixes two of our favorite things: princesses and superheros.

Do you have a kid whose reading level is stuck between easy books and novels? It can be difficult to find a book that bridges that gap. But have no fear: Shannon & Dean Hale's series "The Princess in Black" is here for the rescue! This series' design helps meet the needs of developing readers with easy text and illustrations done in a chapter book format to help guide your reader to he next level.

Don't let the word "princess" in the title throw you off: This is a great pick for both girls and boys. Try it out...

• Sing your favorite carols at a very special Sing-Along Storytime featuring your favorite holiday songs! Thursday, December 15 at 4 pm!
• Celebrate the season at our Winter Party full of crafts and activities on Wednesday, December 21 at 4 pm!
• Need something to do on your winter break? Stop in to watch new movie releases at the library December 27-29 at 2 pm!
